About Yumiko

My name is Yumiko, and I’m a photographer working in Singapore and Tokyo.

I have been living in Singapore since January 2025.

Today, I would like to share a little about my background.

I was born in Tokyo and majored in French literature at university.

After graduating, I started working, but influenced by a friend who was working overseas, I also wanted to experience an international environment. So I decided to study at a business school in France.

After obtaining my master’s degree, I returned to Tokyo and worked in digital marketing at foreign companies.

The work was enjoyable and going well, but I began to think more deeply about my future and realised that I only live once. That was when I decided to pursue my passion—photography—as a career.

I began my career as a photographer in 2020, focusing on product and portrait photography.

My journey into family photography started when I was asked to take pictures of a friend’s family. Photographing children turned out to be more challenging than I had expected, but also incredibly fun.

Since then, I have wanted to grow as a photographer and create images that families can treasure forever. I also had the opportunity to work at a friend’s family photo studio, and to date, I have photographed more than 1,000 people.

In 2025, I became a mother myself.

I want to capture the beauty of babies who grow up so quickly. To prepare for this, I have been taking workshops and plan to incorporate newborn photography into my work in the future.
